Ms. Dean has a knack for finding great places to visit on the cheap. This guide, like her others, blends history and helpful information. She takes the guesswork out of planning your holiday by providing times, prices, and practical suggestions in a concise & interesting way. So what are you waiting for? You have your very own travel consultant! GO!
This is a well written book through the eyes of an "average" person. I loved knowing that someone with a budget like mine can give me tips. It's nice to know the reality of places and what to expect from each place. Great read for those traveling on a budget.
I don't know where to begin. This travel guide is one of the better that I have read so I'll try not to leave anything out as to why I am so impressed with the guide.
The author has clearly been there and knows what she is talking about. I love the fact that she gives tips to help the reader save money but more importantly, she gives the pertinent information on the 5 sites to see and does so in a way that is interesting to read.
Included are helpful websites, introductions to the sites with interesting history (thank goodness it's not the dry, boring details), hours of operation, admission costs, as well as interesting experiences of the author. The author even threw in a couple of correct pronunciations! (ie, Scone=Skoon)
The only bad thing I found from reading the review is that I am ready to pack my bags, click my heels and be in the Scottish Lowlands tomorrow. That isn't happening for a while. Boo for me and my lack of funds! One day, I will experience these sites for myself. Until then, I'll just read this guide every now and then and live vicariously through whomever goes, writes reviews on this book as well as their travels.
Kudos to Author Kristie Dean for this splendid little piece of work! It's a MUST READ for anyone considering visiting the Scottish Lowlands.
I am trying to plan a trip to Scotland. I plan to join the McRae clan this summer in celebrating two important events of 2015. This travel guide gave insightful places to stay and historical sites to visit. It was an easy read to understand and great directions to the sites of interest.
After reading this book, I have made plans to go to Kyoto in May!!!!
