Could a major scandal cause the United States to terminate its support for Israel? The Masada Complex, a contemporary thriller set in Arizona, Washington, and Israel, gives us a chilling portrayal of exactly such a scenario. The novel's unforgettable hero is Masada El-Tal, a beautiful Israeli expatriate who grew up on a kibbutz by the Dead Sea and served in an IDF elite unit. But her charmed life was struck by disaster after 25 years. She left Israel for Arizona and has built a new life, earning a reputation as a prizewinning investigative reporter. But her latest story causes the suicide of a US senator, and an unprecedented wave of anti-Semitic violence sweeps across America.

While an angry Congress prepares to enact legislation to suspend all military aid to Israel, a mysterious organization attempts to assassinate Masada in order to stop her relentless investigation. As the clock ticks, her friends turn out to be enemies, and those she has maligned come to her aid. And the truth Masada uncovers exceeds her worst nightmares. Like the Jewish homeland she has left, Masada must overcome her moral dilemmas in order to defeat her mortal foes and save her people from destruction.

The Masada Complex (Audible Audio Edition) Avraham Azrieli Steven Cooper Books

I've read all of Azrieli's books. I live in Israel & I've actually learned interesting things from his books...but this one I struggled with. Actually found the characters so maddening that I skipped parts of the book.. I felt no sympathy for any of them. My understanding is that the author no longer lives in Israel and hasn't for quite a while.I find it interesting that he still manages to concoct such convoluted scenarios along with so many unsympathetic characters all while telling stories about Israel. Actually we have an impressive military here including some wonderful young soldiers who are losing their lives on a daily basis. I think this book is demeaning.... especially to our military and the people in charge.

The Masada Complex (Audible Audio Edition) Avraham Azrieli Steven Cooper Books Reviews

Excellent book, couldn't put it down however, from the beginning I didn't "feel" it for Masada, She was blind sided with her anger and refused to see the other side of the coin. It was all black and white to her, no gray areas. Being a journalist, IMO, she should have at least tried to see both sides and investigate other options
Her hate and anger consumed her
I had never read or even heard of Avraham Azrieli now, however, I will read more
I will mention this book and author to my Rabbi and others of the Jewish faith and to all those others that are interested in a good mystery
Not just a another book about the middle east conflict and it's long arms and legs, delves into the conflict in a new way with more understanding of the complex situation conflict extending borders. Very developed story line and characters. Engaging, i found the book fairly easy to follow and keep track of people and events.
This book is AWESOME. I thoroughly enjoyed every word. It held me on the edge of my seat. The more I read, the more I wanted to. Things are never black and white. The bad guy or guys are never who you think they are. Questions constantly filled my mind - - What is the Masada Complex? Who was behind it all? What was their motivation? The answers are revealed as we follow Masada, Levy Silver, Al, Rabbi Joshua Frank and Elizabeth as they all seek to solidify their own realities.

Avraham Azreli did a fantastic job of keeping the reader engaged. Each word was carefully chosen to ensure that the reader would be the fish on a hook. His descriptive manner was clean yet intriguing. His words crystallized into visual images while pulling on your emotions.

The Masada Complex is most definitely a “Must Read” for anyone who has a thirst for non-stop action. I personally believe the Masada Complex would easily transfer to film.

Kudos for an absolutely exhilarating ride. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to reading more. 5 Stars!!!
the Masada complex, like Avraham's other books, Jerusalem inception and Jerusalem assassin is brilliantly written. His stories like his characters are complex, with different views and strong characters. Azrieli manages to put all this into easy flowing reading, easy to understand and grasp, while, giving you a history lesson, adding a bit of romance and keeping you on the edge of your seat after every turn of the page.......

Masada is an American journalist in America who is given the story of a life time, will she find the truth?
or will it kill her first.

definitely recommended reading!
This is a "simple Complex" book, sorry for the oxymoron. Although trying to be complex, the story and the characters were predictable....except the ending on several levels. So as not to give anything away, I will say the fact that the US senate can change it's decision in under an hour on the basis of a live video feed.....well. Also, the whole feel of the book changes on a dime with the last two paragraphs. If you need a book you can pick up and put down with out any fear of knowing where you are in it and don't expect much, I guess this will do.
I read a number of books by the same author and usually really enjoyed them, but this was a misstep. All the characters were just...meh. The character of Masada was appalling at times, and I almost ended up rooting for the 'professor'. I also had a hard time believing that he could maintain the facade for so long, without ever cracking or even arousing suspicion in anyone. Considering that he was just a guy, and not a professional spy with years of training and preparation, I just found that so many years of duplicity were unbelievable. At the end of the day, the only person I felt anything for was poor little Raul. The conclusion was unsatisfying as well.
I had read the author's previous books and enjoyed them enough to purchase this book. Though the story was engaging and the reader could learn about aspects of Israel's history, I was very disappointed in his portrayal of women. The main character, Masada, a Pulitzer Prize woman, was so filled with hatred for Israel that she came across as a non thinking person. She created all kinds of scenarios in her mind about events so that Israel would look bad. A truly worthy journalist would not be so jaded. At the same time we have a Palestinian woman who comes across as naive or just plain dumb. She holds a top U.S. government job, returns to the Arab camps believing a lie and even surrounded by the old ways in the camp she truly believes that the men have not changed. She goes to a men's council wearing western clothes without a head covering. Her actions and reactions until her last minutes are so delusional that I had to wonder if she was real. Two accomplished women made out to be idiots.
I've read all of Azrieli's books. I live in Israel & I've actually learned interesting things from his books...but this one I struggled with. Actually found the characters so maddening that I skipped parts of the book.. I felt no sympathy for any of them.
